The largest lake in Italy, the Garda lake, surrounded by Veneto, Lombardia and Trentino - Alto Adige regions is home to the northernmost area in the world where olives can be cultivated. Thanks to the lake's mild, sub-mediterranean microclimate olive orchards have the perfect conditions and give each year one of the most prestigious olive oils in Italy, the Garda D.O.P (Denomination of Protected Origin).

Olives exploitation doesn’t end on oil. Taking into account that the oil content is, on average, only 20% by weight of olives, what remains is valuable olive-derived biomass such as pomace, used as fertiliser in agriculture and ground olive pit, a renewable biofuel with a high-calorific output, compared to well known wood pellet.
